Staby Farm, set in delightful surroundings in the Borough of Högsby, Kalmar Län, run since 1959 by Gunnar Hult, now with his three sons. Staby Gård cultivates around 60 ha of corn in the long valley of the Emån river. The corn is used on the freehold provincial farm Granhult to feed pigs, sheep and bulls.
The previously flooded fields bordering the Emån, which are now dammed in, always had problems with couch grass with partial winter killing with acidity and ice-blight.
A method of combating couch grass was therefore desperately needed, and Roundup and the SLU-report initiated the trial of Weedkiller. In our experience, Weedkiller 2000 saves time and combats weeds in a simple and environment-friendly manner, using only a minimum of the agent. It gives us plenty of time to fertilise all the land and also to combat weeds mechanically by mulching the fertiliser, either with a plough or other kinds of disc machines. We machine-sow the grain in autumn, as our region is usually hit by droughts in the early summer.
